Signal Providers Information
Important Information For Signal providers

The idea is to make setup as simple as possible for your client. If you recommend TradeItself on your website then you can also point your clients to use your own specific "rules" file which they download from your website and import directly into TradeItself. This means your clients do not need to know how to customise TradeItself for the specific texts in your signal emails, rather they just import your "rules" file and select it. Job done!

How Do I Get A TradeItself Rules File For Our Signals? (top)

Option 1. If you are already a subscriber to TradeItself you can just use the "export" button on the rulesets page to create your own rules file. The export button will export all the rules you currently have setup in TradeItself to an external file which your users can download from your website and import.

Option 2. We will generate a rules file for you for free (subject to the feasibility of your requirement). We will need to know the precise content of your emails and the corresponding trading instructions and currencies. Contact us at support@tradeitself.com giving details of your company and website and your signal email details. The accuracy of the information you send us is paramount to correct trading, so please double check the details before sending to us.

Disclaimer:
You must carefully check any "rules file" we send you, by importing it into TradeItself 2006, and confirming it is consistent with the emails you send and the trading instructions relating to those emails you send. You are responsible for the contents of this file. Full details of working with rules are explained here.

Choosing a name for your rules file: We recommend that you choose a name for your rules file that reflects your business and that is unlikely to be confused with other signal provider rules file. eg. YourCompanyNameTradeItselfRules.xml

Very Important Notes For Downloading Rules Files (top)

1. All rules files have the file extension .xml. The problem is that most browsers recognise this as a file to display and so if the user clicks your download link, rather than downloading the rules file, the rules file will be displayed in your client's browser.

2. To get round this problem you must instruct your client to right mouse click your link and select "Save Target As..." on the menu which appears after the right mouse click. This way your clients will download the file rather than open it in their browser.

3. We also strongly recommend that you include the target="_blank" attribute in your download link html. If your client accidentally clicks your download link instead of right mouse clicking, the rules file will be opened in another browser rather than the current one. This makes it easier for the client to close the newly opened browser displaying the rules file and return to your web page. Sample html code is shown below for your web programmer.

Sample HTML:

1. To download the [your company name] rules file please <a target="_blank" title="Right Mouse Click To Download Rules File" href="http://[your web site]/[your company name].xml">right mouse click here</a> and then select "Save Target As...". Note: If you accidentally click rather than using your right mouse button you may open the rules file in your browser. This is not a problem, just close the browser and try again using your right mouse button.

Typical Instructions For Clients On How To Download And Import Your Rules File (top)

If you already have the correct rules file then ignore step one.

1. To download the [Your Company Name] rules file please right mouse click here and then select "Save Target As...". Note: If you accidentally click rather than using your right mouse button you may open the rules file in your browser. This is not a problem, just close the browser and try again using your right mouse button. (signal providers see important notes on downloading)

2. Save the rules file to your TradeItself installation directory. This is normally "C:\Program Files\Jonathan R. Hill Limited\TradeItself 2006"

3. From within TradeItself 2006, find the front page and click the link called: "4. Click Here To Select Trading Rules". This takes you to the rules selection screen.

4. Now press the "Import" button on the right hand side of the screen. This shows a standard file selection box. Please navigate to your downloaded rules file and press the "Open" button. This will import the rules into TradeItself.

5. You should now see a new ruleset in the list of rulesets. Select this ruleset using the mouse and press the "Select" button. You are done.

Let Your Clients Know When Your Rules Change (top)

It is very important that your clients have a correct rules file as this ensures that they are reading and interpreting your emails correctly.

  • Every time you change your rules file you should notify all your TradeItself 2006 clients of this rule change so they can import the latest rules file and benefit from your changes.
  • Every time you have a new client who will use TradeItself 2006, you should notify this new client of where and how to download and import your current rules file.
