What does TradeItself do?
TradeItself is software which methodically converts
emails into trades. That's it!
TradeItself collects,
reads and processes email. TradeItself searches each email to see if it
recognises trading instructions in either/or the subject and body of the email.
If a valid trading instruction and currency are found then TradeItself will
execute this instruction (subject to other checks).
TradeItself does not know and is not concerned with
where the email originated. If you can send an email to TradeItself, with text
that TradeItself will recognise, then TradeItself will trade it.
TradeItself provides powerful and extensive capabilities
for recognising trading instructions and
associated information in emails.
Each collected email is methodically processed
using something called a
ruleset. This is a fully customisable set of
individual rules designed by you the user (or
imported from an external file provided by your
signal provider). Each
rule describes how a trading instruction
will be found in an email. Eg. Where is the
trading instruction? Is it in the email subject?
Is it in the email body? What is the text which
represents the trading instruction? Is there a
price in the email associated with this trading
instruction? Is there a stop loss in the email
associated with this trading instruction? Is
there a limit in the email associated with this
trading instruction? etc etc. All this
information is neatly contained in a rule. You
the user can configure rules using a very
helpful
rules wizard which takes you carefully
through each option available for your chosen
trading instruction.
What does TradeItself Work With?
TradeItself collects,
reads and processes email.
TradeItself does not know and is not concerned with
where the email originated. If you can send an email to TradeItself, with text
that TradeItself will recognise, then TradeItself will trade it.
So TradeItself will
work with any organisation or software which
sends emails.
Does TradeItself work with this signal provider I
have just found?
TradeItself provides powerful and extensive capabilities
for recognising trading instructions and associated
information in emails and it is therefore very
unusual for an email from a signal provider not to
be readable.
Ask your signal provider
to read the information at this link
http://www.tradeitself.com/signalproviders.aspx
and generate a TradeItself compatible rules file
which you can download and import directly into
TradeItself without getting involved in the rules
setup process.
Generally speaking, if
your signal provider sends one email for each trade,
then this is supported by TradeItself. If they
provide one email containing many trades, then if all information for each trade is
then this too is supported.

Installation error:
FXUpdater CRC error. File "CW2/Updater/fxupdater.ex_"
is not properly declared or corrupted.
This error comes from
the FXCM runtime software which is attempting to
install itself on your computer during the
installation of TradeItself 2006. Please use the
following steps to resolve the above error:
1. Close
TradeItself 2006 application if it is running.
2. Install the new "FXCM
Trading Station 2" from

To resolve this
issue please use the following instructions to run
TradeItself 2006 as an administrator:
1. Using Windows
Explorer find the file called "TradeItself2006.exe"
The default folder for this file is as follows but
it may be different if you have installed
TradeItself at a location different to the default
location. (Note that the shortcut icon on your
desktop is not the file)
C:\Program
Files\Jonathan R. Hill Limited\TradeItself
2006\TradeItself2006.exe
2. Right mouse
click this file and you should see an option to "Run
As". Select this and run as an administrator.
TradeItself 2006
does not officially support Windows Vista but the
above instructions should resolve this issue.
Can I trade an FXCM 'No Dealing
Desk' Account:
Yes.
Currently FXCM offer two types of account "No Dealing
Desk" and "Fixed Spread". The features and differences
between the two are explained on
FXCM's
website.
TradeItself 2006 supports both these types
of accounts since version 2.1.6. Furthermore TradeItself 2006 is now
designed to work with accounts that have hedging
capabilities either enabled or disabled. TradeItself
2006 only supports "Fixed Spread" accounts before
version 2.1.6. Click "Help" menu option and then
"About" menu option to see a box which displays your
current version of TradeItself 2006.
How does the "Reverse Open Position(s)" trading
instruction work with hedging?
If hedging is enabled on an FXCM
account, then TradeItself 2006 will perform the
following trading actions for the "Reverse Open
Position(s)" trading instruction:
-
TradeItself 2006 calculates
the net position for a particular currency pair.
The net position is determined by adding up the
amount traded in lots for all "bought" open
position(s) and all "sold" open position(s) for
a particular currency pair. If there are more
lots "bought" than "sold" then the net position
is "bought" at an amount equal to the difference
between the lots "bought" and "sold". If there
are more lots "sold" than "bought" then the net
position is "sold" at an amount equal to the
difference between the lots "bought" and "sold".
-
If the net position for a
particular currency pair is "bought" for x lots,
then TradeItself 2006 will "close all open
position(s)" for this currency pair and then
"sell" x lots of this currency pair. If the net
position for a particular currency pair is
"sold" for x lot(s) then TradeItself 2006 will
"close all open position(s)" for this currency
pair and then "buy" x lots of this currency
pair.
-
If the net position is
determined to be zero, in other words the amount
of lots "bought" and "sold" is equal for a
particular currency pair, then the "Reverse Open
Position(s) trading instruction will do nothing.
Do I need a new TradeItself login for TradeItself
2006?
No. Your existing
login to TradeItself will work
with TradeItself 2006. Your subscription with PayPal
also remains unaffected and you will also retain
your lower subscription rate.
Do I have to upgrade
to TradeItself 2006?
We strongly recommend
that you upgrade to TradeItself 2006 from Version
1.x as soon as
possible. As TradeItself version 1.0 now has a very
limited shelf life of only a month or so from
January 2006.
How long will the TradeItself version 1.x be
supported?
TradeItself version
1.x is dependent on the FXCM trading station version
1 being supported. As long as FXCM trading station
version 1 works, TradeItself version 1.x will work.
However FXCM have advised that their trading station
version 1 is very near the end of its support life.
We therefore
recommend that you upgrade to TradeItself 2006 as
soon as possible. Your existing login to TradeItself
will work
with TradeItself 2006. Your subscription with PayPal
also remains unaffected and you will also retain
your lower subscription rate.
How do I upgrade
from version 1.x to TradeItself 2006?
- Make a note of
your email settings and any other custom email
format settings you have entered into the setup
screen of TradeItself version 1.x
- Uninstall
TradeItself version 1.x using the windows
"Control Panel" and "Add Or Remove Programs".
Look for "TradeItself" and press the remove
button.
- Download and
install TradeItself 2006 from
http://www.tradeitself.com/Downloads.aspx.
Please note that you may need to install
Microsoft .Net 2.0 from
here
- Carefully read
through all the online
help and faqs for how
TradeItself 2006 now works.
- Run, login and
enter your new settings into TradeItself 2006.
My log file is full or nearly full. What should I
do?
Once the TradeItself
2006 log file has reached its capacity of 5000
lines, every time a new entry is added to the log
file, the oldest entry in your log file is deleted.
In other words, the content of your log file
"truncates" to hold only the most recent 5000 lines
of logging information.
TradeItself will warn
you when your log file is over 80% full and
therefore give you an opportunity to backup your log
file before truncation of log information occurs.
Once your log file is over 80% full, you should
consider the following options:
- backup your log
file (see below on how to do this) and therefore
retain a record of your trading activity
- allow your log
file to continue truncating - you only retain
the most recent 5000 entries.
- clear the log
file by clicking the clear button - you loose
all record of your trading activity contained in
the log at that time.
How to backup your
log file: If you want to backup your log file,
then you will need to copy the log file using
windows explorer to a backup folder of your own
choosing. You are responsible for carefully copying
and storing this file and remembering the location
of the copied file. The log file is called
"TradeItself2006Log.txt" and is located in the
TradeItself 2006 installation folder (normally
"C:\Program Files\Jonathan R. Hill
Limited\TradeItself 2006"). We recommend that you
rename your copied log file uniquely to reflect the
date of your backup.
Note: The log
file "TradeItself2006Log.txt" is a normal text file
and can be opened and edited in any text editor e.g.
Notepad
Where are
the quick start instructions?
Please click
here for "Getting Started" instructions.
Why do you not
provide a free demo?
First of all, thank you for your interest in
TradeItself.
We don't offer a free demo as the functionality is
fully and comprehensibly described on this website and all the functionality
described here is fully operational in TradeItself. The customer only commits
to USD49 which we feel is a fair price to trial our automated trading software.
We would recommend, however, that prior to subscribing (if you
decide to subscribe), that you install and run TradeItself and check that you
can see the login screen. This confirms that your operating system is capable
of running the software.
How
do I cancel my subscription to TradeItself?
All subscriptions to TradeItself are handled by
PayPal. You will have received an email from PayPal when you initially
subscribed.
If you would like to cancel your Subscription, log in
to your PayPal account using your PayPal login details (NB. These are different
to your TradeItself login details)
Go to the "History" subtab of the "My Account" tab.
Choose "Subscriptions" from the drop-down "Show" menu and press "Submit".
Choose your TradeItself Subscription, and click on its "Status."
You will be taken to a Transaction Details page from
which you may cancel your Subscription.
Cancelling your Subscription in this way will immediately stop all future
scheduled payments for this Subscription.
Notes for people cancelling:
Thank-you for your custom. It is much appreciated
Please note that your TradeItself login will continue
to work up until the end of your remaining subscription period.
Please also note that we do not hold or have access to any payment
card details of any of our clients as PayPal hold these details. For this
reason, if you wish to re-subscribe at anytime in the future, then this must be
through a new subscription with PayPal via our website page
http://www.tradeitself.com/Subscriptions.aspx. We are unable to
activate your original TradeItself account and you will need to choose a new
username.
How much does
TradeItself cost? (back
to top)
Use of TradeItself is by subscription only. Pricing is
dependent on your country of use. Please see the Subscriptions
and Pricing page for further details.
I
cannot use PayPal. Are there alternatives?
We do not have an alternative to PayPal at this time.
PayPal is always expanding it's supported countries list all the time.
All we can suggest is if you have a relative in a
supported country that maybe they would pay for you.
What specification
of computer do I need? (back
to top)
Supported Operating Systems:
Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP Service Pack 2
Required Software:
Windows Installer 3.0.
Windows Installer 3.1 or later is recommended.
IE 5.01 or
later: You must also be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or
later for all installations of the .NET Framework.
Required Hardware: At least 1 GB of
computer memory
We strongly recommend that you
download the software and install. If, once installed, you can see
the login screen, then it is a strong indication that your computer hardware
and software will be able to run the main TradeItself program.
What software needs to run on my computer for TradeItself to work?
The minimum requirement
is
-
TradeItself 2006
-
Live Internet Connection
The charts or
the software which generates email do not
have to be on the same computer, of course they can be if you want.
I've
forgotten my password. What do I do?
Every month when your subscription payment is taken,
TradeItself sends you an email containing an invoice and confirming and
thanking you for your continued use of TradeItself. These emails contain your
login details.
If you cannot find any of these emails then please
email support@tradeitself.com with
a lost password request. Please include your name. For security reasons
TradeItself will only email login details to the email address used by PayPal
for the payment of the most recent subscription.
I would like to re subscribe. Can I use my old
user name?
No. Please note that we do not hold or have
access to any payment card details of any of our
clients as PayPal hold these details. For this
reason, if you wish to re-subscribe at anytime
in the future, then this must be through a new
subscription with PayPal via our website page
http://www.tradeitself.com/Subscriptions.aspx.
We are unable to activate your original
TradeItself account and you will need to choose
a new username.
How do I find the account number for my FXCM
demo account?
FXCM do not issue
account numbers with demo accounts. All they
will send you are your login details (username
and password)
In order to find
out your demo account number, run the FXCM
trading station software (any version will do).
Login using your demo account login. Once the
login has settled and all the information is
present, find the accounts box. You will find
your account number in the grid just under the
title "Account".
You can now use
this account number in TradeItself 2006, together
with your login details to demo trade. Please be
careful not to confuse your account number with
your username.
How do I reinstall TradeItself 2006?
Note: It
is unusual to need to reinstall as TradeItself
2006 has an automatic upgrade facility. Every
time you login, TradeItself 2006 checks if an
upgrade is present and then applies this upgrade
if present. However in certain circumstances the
support team may direct you to do a complete
reinstall. This section details the required
steps to perform a complete reinstall.
1. Copy the
following two files to another folder, away from
the TradeItself 2006 installation, so that with
the new installation you do not need to enter
all your settings and rulesets over again.
-
TradeItself2006Settings.xml (contains
TradeItself 2006 settings)
-
EmailRules.xml (contains TradeItself
rulesets)
Both these files
are found in the TradeItself 2006 installation
folder (normally C:\Program Files\Jonathan R.
Hill Limited\TradeItself 2006)
2. Using the
windows Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs
remove the installation of TradeItself 2006.
3. Now navigate
to where TradeItself 2006 was installed and
delete any remaining files and folders
4. Download and
run a fresh TradeItself installation from
http://www.tradeitself.com/Downloads.aspx
5. Copy the two
files safely saved in step 1 back into the new
TradeItself installation folder. You will need
to overwrite the same named files already in
existence in this folder.
6. A reinstall of
TradeItself 2006 is now complete.
How do I
import a rules file?
Please follow the
instructions
here
I need help with my rules file - what
information do you need?
We will help you
with your rules, but you must give us the
following information listed
here
Do I
need to run the FXCM Trading Station?
No.
Unlike version 1, TradeItself 2006 has no requirement
for running the broker software (FXCM or RefcoFX Trading Station).
Therefore the question of "Trading Station"
compatibility is no longer relevant.
Important:
If you do want to run the FXCM trading
station at the same time as TradeItself 2006
and you are running a "real" account (as
opposed to a "demo" account), then you must
have your real account enabled for
"multi-session access". Please read
this section for further details.
TradeItself 2006 cannot login when I run
FXCM Trading Station at same time. What can
I do?
"Live" or "real"
FXCM accounts only allow one login at the
same time as a security measure. Therefore
if you are running TradeItself 2006 and the
FXCM trading station at the same time, the
TradeItself 2006 FXCM login will fail and
prevent any trades being placed.
To resolve this
issue you must contact FXCM directly by
email at
admin@fxcm.com and ask them to enable
your "real" account for "multi-session
access". Once your account is enabled for
multi-session access, you will be able to
run TradeItself 2006 at the same time as the
FXCM trading station.
Note that demo
accounts are always enabled for
"multi-session access", and so this issue
does not apply to demo accounts.
Does TradeItself still work with the software from RefcoFX?
TradeItself 2006 has no requirement for running the
broker software (either FXCM or RefcoFX Trading Station). Therefore this
question is no longer relevant.
If you have an account with RefcoFX then check with
FXCM that your account information works with FXCM. If it does then TradeItself
will work fine. Please see
what software
is required.
Will TradeItself work with different trading Station currency accounts ((eg.
Sterling or Euro accounts)?
Yes. TradeItself will work with all currency accounts
supported by FXCM.
Can I trade on my trading station while TradeItself is running?
Yes, but be aware that if you are trading the same
account that TradeItself is trading, you may interfere with a trading
instruction in progress from TradeItself. It is highly recommended to turn off
automatic trading on TradeItself before trading the same account in your
trading station. Note also that even with automatic trading turned off, the
manual screen in TradeItself can still place trades. These manual trades potentially
may also interfere with trading in your trading station.
My trading station login no longer works since I installed TradeItself. Why?
Is your trading station
login for a DEMO or LIVE account? In the trading station login box, it is a
common mistake to ignore the "Connection" setting. This must be
"Demo" or "Live" according to your account. You can also test the
connection by pressing the "Settings" button on the Trading Station Login box
and then press the "Test" button to check out the trading station servers.
What is the trading amount fraction size?
Understanding the
"trading amount fraction size" is not essential
to your trading as TradeItself handles all the
details for you. It is displayed in the
TradeItself log for diagnostic and information
purposes only. You do not need to know the
following details, but they are here for your
information if required.
Certain FXCM
logins now require trade amounts to be placed in
"base currency units" rather than in lot(s).
These new FXCM logins, which have this
requirement, instruct TradeItself how many base
currency units are represented by 1 lot(s) and
this number is called the "trading amount
fraction size". For information purposes,
TradeItself displays the trading amount fraction
size for your current FXCM login in the log.
The following
three log entries may be seen:
- Trading
amount fraction size for current FXCM login
is 10000 - this means that your current
FXCM login is required to trade in base
currency units and 10000 base currency units
represent 1 lot. As an aside, this also
indicates this is a "mini" account.
- Trading
amount fraction size for current FXCM login
is 100000 - this means that your current
FXCM login is required to trade in base
currency units and 100000 base currency
units represent 1 lot. As an aside, this
also indicates this is a "standard" account.
- Trading
amount fraction size not supported for
current FXCM login. Therefore trading with
fraction size of 1 -this means that your
current FXCM login still trades in lots. The
account may be a "mini" account or a
"standard" account.
At time of
writing only demo accounts are trading in base
currency units, but in due course it is expected
that FXCM will apply this trading requirement to
real accounts.
Do
you recommend a POP3 email account provider?
There are hundreds of POP3 email providers to choose
from. A simple internet search for the words POP3 email will yield
multiple results. When choosing a provider please consider the following:
-
Often free web email is NOT POP3. (see note on Yahoo
below)
-
Do NOT choose a free POP3 account. These are
often subject to cancellation without notice or have inconsistent performance.
For a very low fee (often no more than $1 USD / month) a reliable and
responsive email account may be purchased.
-
Do choose a fast and reliable provider. Obviously, the
longer your email takes to reach TradeItself the longer the gap between the
generation of your trading signal and your actual trade. Emails should arrive
within 2-3 seconds of being sent.
-
Do NOT choose a POP3 email provider who limits
the number of logins per day. This type of email account is not suitable
as TradeItself will be logging in to check your email every 10 seconds or so.
If the number of logins allowed is restricted, then once your daily quota of
logins is used up, connection failures will result.
Recommended POP3 email providers:
|
IMPORTANT: Please Read Following Disclaimer: The
following recommendations are "as is". We cannot endorse, guarantee or predict
future performance of the services of the organisations listed directly below.
The listing is here merely as a starting point in your own research for a
suitable POP3 email provider. |
-
http://www.yahoo.co.uk
(as of 10th January 2006) IMPORTANT: Please note that the free email
with Yahoo is NOT a POP3 account. You will need to pay for their Yahoo! Mail
Plus in order to receive a POP3 account. Yahoo's free web mail will NOT
work with TradeItself.
Do
I need to run an email client? (eg. MS Outlook)
No you do not.
TradeItself does not need Outlook or Outlook
Express (or any email client) to collect email, because it collects email
itself. Once you have setup TradeItself with the POP3 server name (host), the
POP3 username and POP3 password in the setup screen, that is all that is
needed.
See
What software needs to run on my computer for TradeItself to work? below
for more details.
My email
doesn't work, what should I do?
The following tests may help you figure out what is
wrong:
-
Are you connected to the internet?
-
Can you send and receive email on this email account
using your normal email client (eg. MS Outlook)? This verifies that the email
is working OK.
-
Press the Test Connection button on the
TradeItself "setup email" screen. This verifies your host, username and
password are OK and that TradeItself can connect to your account. If there is
an error displayed, then read the error as it often gives
useful
information as to what the problem is. Your email service provider is required
to give you the following three pieces of information: Username, Password and
Hostname. If they do not give you this information, then check that the email
service they have provided is POP3. If it is not POP3 then it will not work
with TradeItself.
-
Inspect the TradeItself log for emails received. All
emails received and deleted are logged. The log is displayed on the main front
screen of TradeItself.
-
Make sure you are NOT running any other email
client software which collects from the same email account as TradeItself, at
the same time as TradeItself (eg. MS Outlook or MS Outlook Express).
TradeItself does not need email client software to operate. See
Do I need to run an email client? for more details.
NB. Don't forget that TradeItself empties your email
mailbox, deleting any existing emails whenever the automatic signal email
collection box is enabled. (See
Why does TradeItself have to empty the email mailbox? )
I have many email connection errors in the log. Is this normal?
Yes, as email service provision is never
perfect. Email service providers operate on time outs depending on the intensity of
demand at the particular time you attempt to login. Therefore it is
perfectly normal to have occasional connection error messages. This does not
effect your signal emails as they will remain on the email server until the
next successful connection a few seconds later - it does mean however that
there is a delay in the processing of your signal emails.
If you look at the time of the error
messages and there is significant time between the errors then this is normal.
If you have a large number of connection errors, say every 5 minutes, then you
may need to contact your email service provider for an explanation. "Paid for"
commercial POP3 providers tend to give the most reliable email provision
service.
Why
do you recommend a dedicated email account?
During email collection, TradeItself will discard and
delete any non signal emails. Therefore the account will not be suitable for
any other purposes than trading signal emails. (See
Why does TradeItself have to empty the email mailbox? )
Why does TradeItself have to empty the email mailbox?
|
Whenever automatic email collection is enabled,
TradeItself will use the email settings found in the setup screen to go and
collect all emails in your dedicated email account. TradeItself
will then immediately delete them all - even if they are valid
signal emails. This is a safety precaution to prevent a potential
series of immediate and costly "buys" and "sells" triggered by old signal
emails stored up in your dedicated email account. |
For this reason, it is recommended that a dedicated
email account just for automatic trading is used as all unrelated
emails are deleted.
Any valid signal emails arriving subsequent to
the initial deletion or "emptying of" the email account are then traded
and deleted. Any invalid emails arriving subsequent to the initial
deletion or "emptying of" the email account are just deleted. Individual
signal emails will never be processed more than once.
Automatic
Trading Doesn't Work. What Should I Do?
1. Check if email is working?
(click
here for instructions on email
configuration)
2. Using a demo broker account setup in TradeItself
send a test email to your dedicated email account containing text which you
would expect TradeItself to trade.
3. With automatic trading enabled, watch for this email
to arrive at TradeItself by carefully inspecting the log displayed on the front
screen of TradeItself.
4. The log will indicate the results of processing your
test email and will help you understand why TradeItself is not trading as you
expected it to trade.
5. Use the
test screen
to check email text against your selected ruleset. The test screen is very
useful for figuring out how Tradeitself will respond to certain email texts.
6. Trade
against a demo account using the
manual screen. This will confirm
that TradeItself is connecting to FXCM
OK.
What needs to be in an email so that TradeItself trades?
TradeItself is looking for emails with specific text in
the subject line and in the body of the email. These texts are defined within
the selected ruleset. See
selecting a ruleset
for further details.
Why is a failed attempt to place a trade not reattempted?
Sometimes a
trading instruction will fail. This may be because, and is not
limited to, the following reasons:
-
The market is moving quickly and the market price
requested has now moved.
-
A trade may require more margin than you currently have
in your account.
It has been decided that TradeItself will not re-attempt
in a failure scenario, as the timescales for failure resolution are often
unknown. For example, there may be an indeterminate delay on a trade being
placed. A re-attempt in this case would potentially place the same trade twice.
After a trade failure, if possible, TradeItself will
continue to process and trade subsequent email trading signals.
Possible
workaround:
To help resolve trade execution in a fast
market, FXCM provide a feature called 'At Market
Points'. This feature facilitates a market entry
within the specified pip range or 'market
points' away from your requested entry price.
Please see the
descriptive text at bottom of the price page
in the rule wizard for more details.
Does TradeItself guarantee automatic or manual trade executions?
While considerable effort has been made to ensure
TradeItself operates in a predictable manner, it is possible on occasions that
TradeItself will not behave in a predictable manner, exposing you to the risk
of significant loss of your capital. TradeItself may not perform in a
predictable manner due to a number of reasons including, but not limited to,
fast FOREX market conditions, FXCM software failure, TradeItself software
failure, general computer software failure, internet connection failure, remote
server software failure or an untimely power failure.
Furthermore, extreme care is required in setting up
this software for accurate trading. Careless use of TradeItself may cause the
significant loss of your capital. Do not use TradeItself against a REAL account
until you have thoroughly tested it on a DEMO account. Please read carefully
the End User License Agreement before installing and
using TradeItself.
By downloading, installing and using TradeItself
software, you agree to do so at your own risk.

Suggested Optimisations:
-
Ensure your email delivery is timely: Email
should be delivered every time within 2 or 3 seconds of being sent. If your
email provider does not meet this performance then research one that does. Free
POP3 email providers are almost always slow and unreliable. See
Do you recommend a POP3 email account provider? for further details.
-
Disable FXCM Software Update Checks. This option
should only be done after careful consideration. Please

Why do I get a black screen every time TradeItself 2006 starts?
FXCM will from time to
time update their software which allows TradeItself to place and monitor
trades. When an update is required, access to FXCM is restricted until the
update is performed. To anticipate this, TradeItself checks if an update is
required every time
you start TradeItself. This accounts for the black screen.
The black screen should
disappear after a few seconds. If the black screen does not disappear it may be
that the update check failed for some reason. In this scenario, TradeItself
will still continue to run successfully, so long as an FXCM software update is
not required.
You can do an FXCM
software update without starting TradeItself. This is done by clicking "Start"
on the desktop task bar and selecting All Programs | FX OrderToGo
| Update OrderToGo.
Note that FXCM generally
aim to do all updates over weekends or during quiet market times.
I get the error "FXCM runtime software is
not initialised". What do I do?
Please try the
following steps to resolve the problem.
1. Try a manual
update of the FXCM software using the
following steps:
-
Click the
"Start" button on your Windows desktop task
bar.
-
Select All
Programs | FX OrderToGo | Update OrderToGo
-
This will do a
manual update of the FXCM runtime software
-
Now run
TradeItself 2006 again and see if this has
resolved the problem. If the problem is
still there then go to step 2 below:
2. Reinstall the
application "FXOrder2GoRE.EXE" using the
following steps:
-
Close
TradeItself 2006;
-
Open your
windows "Control Panel" and select "Add Or
Remove Programs"
-
Look down the
list of installed programs until you find
"FXOrder2GoRE.EXE".
-
Press the
"Remove" button and let the software
uninstall automatically.
-
Now close "Add
Or Remove Programs" and close "Control
Panel".
-
Now open
"Windows Explorer" and search for the
directory where TradeItself 2006 is
installed. Normally this is:
-
C:\Program
Files\Jonathan R. Hill
Limited\TradeItself 2006
-
In this
directory is a file called
"FXOrder2GoRE.EXE".
-
Using your
mouse, double-click "FXOrder2GoRE.EXE" and
this will begin the installation of
"FXOrder2GoRE.EXE". Please accept the
defaults of this installation.
-
Once
installation is finished, run TradeItself
2006 again and see if this has resolved the
problem. If the problem is still there then
please read step 3 below:
3. It is
possible that "FXOrder2GoRE.EXE" has
recently been updated and that the update
has a problem which is causing the error you
are seeing in TradeItself 2006. In this case
FXCM are very likely aware of the problem
and are working on a fix. The fix will be
applied in the near future by way of a
subsequent update. If this error has
occurred over a weekend, then it will likely
be fixed by the end of the weekend.
TradeItself 2006 automatically updates the
FXCM runtime every time it is started, but
you can try manual updates by following step
1 above.
